Memorial Day Celebration Monday, May 26, 2014

Hundreds gathered for our 4th Annual Memorial Day Celebration in the Alpine Community Center Park.

Master of Ceremonies Herb Cawthorne began the program with some background on how the Wall of Honor was created. After an opening song by soloist Peter Hastings, veterans were honored by a flyover of refurbished World War II biplanes flown by the Buecker Squadron.

A patriotic mini-concert by the San Diego Festival Chorus was next.

Chairman Dan Foster gave thanks to our veterans on behalf of the Alpine Veterans Wall of Honor Committee and Retired U.S. Congressman Duncan L Hunter assisted Dan in making a special presentation honoring SGT Forrest Dan Cauthorn who gave his life to his country in Iraq.

The Alpine Kiwanis cook shack was on hand at serving meal deals.

Thanks go to Photographer Rod Hinrichsen for the photo above.
